Minutes of Garden State Audubon Council
Treasurerís Report: Balance as of 1/08/06: $6874.81.
Eric Stiles introduced Christina Frank who gave a presentation on the IBBA.
Susan Kraham, Director of Policy for NJAS made a presentation of current policy issues at NJAS.
Eric Stiles demonstrated some of the features of the NJAS website, including the facility to sign up for e-mails for specific types of content. He also gave an update on shorebirds and horseshoe crabs.
Dave Hall was re-elected for a 2-year term as President. No one has volunteered to take over the Treasurerís position, so Carole Baligh agreed to continue until a new Treasurer is named.
There was a discussion of how to allocate the ďCollaborative fundsĒ from NAS ($3178) for chapter projects for the NJ chapters. Monmouth AS and Washington Crossing AS had no projects in mind just yet. BCAS will do a beginners birding class. Their proposal is a request for $794.50 for publicity, materials, and purchase of some binoculars. Ed Bristow (AAS) is also putting together a proposal for a beginners birding class. His group will not need to purchase binoculars. Dave Hall will communicate to Lynn Tennefoss this week about the Councilís discussion.
Next meeting will be scheduled for March 19 at Plainsboro (tentatively). The main agenda will be a presentation on Citizen Science by Nellie Tsipoura (NJAS), which may help us in the next steps in the IBBA process. We are pushing this meeting date forward so that we can be bettered prepared before the spring season.
Informal chapter reports were given.
